AMU Riding Club
The best Tent-Peggers of India are nurtured at The Aligarh Muslim University Riding Club.
The Club was established in 1884 first and finally in 1889. The club produces more than 100 riders every year.
The club published its magazine in 2006 called "Equestre - Passions through the window of time" which was released at The 117th Annual Horse Show of AMU Riding Club on 25th November 2006 by Noted Industrialist & Polo player Mr. Naveen Jindal.
Mr. Naveen Jindal congratulated the Captain & Editor of the magazine, Mr. Ahmad Afsar Sulaiman for preserving a glorious history in pictorial format.
The Club initiated its Honour Rolls on the recommendation of Captain Ahmad Afsar for people who have helped in the progress and development of the club.
Ex-Captain Mr. Habib Ahmad who was twice Captain of MURC in 1955-56 & 57-58 received the club's & University's highest honour. Alongwith him were ex-President Late Prof. Nasim Ansari who served the club for almost 27 years.
Lastly, Dr. Afaq Ahmad Khan was honoured with the award.
The Riding Club President Dr. Mateen-ul Islam said that efforts were being directioned towards a more competitive standard and display at the National level.
Capt. Ahmad Afsar thanked his team who were a great support during his tenure for reviving the lost lusture of the club specially Mr. Syed Zulfiqar Haider Aley Rasool, Rayil Khan, Salman Akhtar Khan, Temoor Wahid, Athar Afsar, Md. Sameer Islam, Farhan Ghani, Faisal Khan, Mr. Faisal Sohail, Mr. Faisal Mehfooz, Syed Saad Feroze, Islahuddin Danish, Ubaid Zafar Khan and others in his address to the crowd. He specially thanked the Club President Dr. Hasan Mateenul Islam for excellent handling and management of the club. He said that his MBA program was guided through the practicalities dealt by Dr. Mateen Islam and believed that he is the best administrator and manager of The Aligarh Muslim University.

Well.......MURC is in a sense what the excellent institution like AMU, stands for...fearless perseverance of ones goal...and in a sense...tent pegging stands for the same goals.
I feel privilaged to be a part of a niche community of MURC.
